Holiday planning for people with fixed time off

Your dates are fixed. Your destination isn't.

Sunblock turns holiday search round. Enter the weeks you can actually take off, the UK airport you'd fly from and what you'd pay. It ranks the warm places that fit, cheapest first, and keeps watching the fares for you.

How it works

Every other search starts with a place. This one starts with when.

Most people don't choose a destination and then find the dates. They have the dates, half-term, the Easter fortnight, the week booked off in October, and they want to know where's warm and what it costs. Sunblock asks in that order.

  1. Enter your time off

Add each block of leave for the year once. Sunblock asks for the dates you can't move, not the place you haven't picked.

    14 to 22 Feb →
  2. Pick your airport and budget

Choose the UK airport you'd rather leave from, whether price or heat matters more to you, and the most you'd pay per person.

    MAN · price first · £350 →
  3. Read the ranking

Every warm destination with a direct flight in those dates, cheapest first, with the temperature you can expect. Each block is also a standing alert.

The temperature chip

Colour is data.

The only warm colour in Sunblock is the temperature chip, and its hue is worked out from the actual daytime high for your dates. Grey-blue means not warm enough. Amber is a proper sun holiday. Coral is hot. You can read a whole list without reading a single number.

The alert

Every block is an alert.

You don't set up a price alert. Entering a block of time off is the alert. Change nothing and Sunblock keeps checking direct fares to every warm place for those dates. When one drops, you're told. That's the whole mechanic, and it's why the app is worth opening in January, not just the week before you go.

What you can trust

Built to be believed.

Travel search has a habit of showing you a price that isn't quite real for a flight that doesn't quite exist. Sunblock has a few rules about that.

Direct flights only

If a route has never returned a direct fare from your airport, the destination isn't shown. No estimated prices for flights that don't exist.

Every price has a basis

Each fare says how many recent fares it's built on and when it was last seen. A number without a date is a guess, and Sunblock doesn't show guesses.

Foreign Office advice comes first

Destinations the FCDO advises against travelling to are never ranked, however cheap the flight.

Booking links are labelled

ADSunblock earns a commission when you book through a link in the app. Every such link carries this label, in line with ASA and CMA guidance. Rankings are by price, never by commission.

Common questions

Quick answers.

Which airports?

Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Stansted, plus a London option that checks Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton together.

Where do the prices come from?

Live return fares for direct flights, checked for the exact dates of your block. Sunblock shows the cheapest recent fare and tells you when it was seen.

Is Sunblock a booking site?

No. It tells you where's warm and what the flight costs, then hands you to the airline or agent to book. It never takes your payment details.

What about package holidays?

Flights first. Package prices from UK operators are next, so the ranking can show a flight-plus-hotel figure alongside the fare.
